The Grand Imam visits the Sultanate of Brunei
The Grand Imam visited the Sultanate of Brunei at the conclusion of his Asian tour, which also included Indonesia and Singapore. His Eminence met Hajj Hassan Bolkiah, Sultan of Brunei. After the meeting, His Eminence announced that it had been agreed to establish a branch for the World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates (WAAG) in the Sultanate of Brunei, and to found an Arabic Language Center, allocating 30 scholarships for Brunei students to study at Al-Azhar. He also appointed the Mufti of Brunei member in the MCE. After the meeting, the Grand Imam headed to the International Conference Center, where he gave a lecture on the Challenges Facing the Islamic Nation in Confronting Terrorism, in the presence of all Brunei government ministers and senior state leaders.
The Minister of Religious Affairs, Haj Badr Al-Din Othman, hosted a dinner banquet in honor of the Grand Imam, in the presence of senior officials in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, judicial institutions, and a number of Brunei graduates of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif. His Eminence concluded his visit to the Sultanate of Brunei with an inspection visit to the Arab Secondary School for Girls.
