The Grand Imam visits the Republic of Singapore
His Eminence the Grand Imam visited the Republic of Singapore, as part of an Asian tour, which also included Indonesia and the Sultanate of Brunei. The visit lasted for 3 days and was very well received by senior officials in Singapore. The Deputy Prime Minister, Teo Chee Hean, held a dinner banquet in honor of the Grand Imam. His Eminence was then received by the President of the Republic, Mrs. Halimah Yacob, who received him at the Presidential Palace on the second day of the visit. This was followed by a welcome lunch hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister, Teo Chee Hean. The Singaporean government has allocated an honor mission to accompany the Grand Imam, headed by Dr. Mohammed Maliki Osman, Senior Minister of State for Defense and Foreign Affairs.
The Grand Imam delivered the annual lecture at the Singapore Islamic Council on its 50th anniversary. The lecture focused on the role of religion in uniting nations. His Eminence also visited the Khadijah Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Singapore, the Center for Religious Guidance, and the Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah. Then, the Grand Imam performed the Friday Prayer at Sultan Hassan Mosque Madrassa, the largest mosque in Singapore, where hundreds gathered to salute him.
