The Grand Imam participates in the Religious Leaders Summit
During the period November 14-15 (2019), His Eminence Al-Azhar Grand Imam headed for the Italian capital, Rome, to meet His Holiness Pope Francis, and to participate in the activities of the Religious Leaders Summit titled, “Child Dignity in the Digital World”, at the headquarters of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in the Vatican. The summit brought together more than 80 international religious figures and specialists in economics, psychology, and sociology. It also witnessed the presence of representatives of organizations combating violent crimes against children. The conference addressed a number of themes, most notably the concept of child dignity in the digital world, the necessary measures to be taken by companies and non-governmental organizations to curb child abuse and exploitation via the Internet, and the role entrusted to religious leaders in mobilizing the international community to combat this emerging phenomenon.
