His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Ghada Wali, Minister of Social Solidarity to discuss ways of cooperation.

The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar has a social responsibility towards the various groups of the Egyptian people, especially the poor, the needy, children and women. Al-Azhar also provides financial and health care support, through the Egyptian House of Zakat and Charity, and Al-Azhar University Hospitals, in addition to raising awareness through its various mechanisms and means of missionary.

The Grand Imam expressed his appreciation of the efforts of the Ministry of Solidarity and its continuous cooperation with Al-Azhar to serve the Egyptian society, stressing the need to support and care for homeless children, protect them from exploitation, violence and delinquency, and raise the level of awareness in the Egyptian society of the rights of women and children.

The Minister, for her part, praised the role of the Grand Imam in the field of caring for homeless children, and briefed His Eminence about the results of cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Solidarity in many social issues.
