His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Tarek Shawki, Minister of Education, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Al-Azhar and the ministry, within the framework of the national system for the development of education.

The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar education is the drive for the modern renaissance of Egypt, and on its basis, all forms of education were established in Egypt. He stressed the importance of supporting education at Al-Azhar because it represents a guarantee of stability and societal coexistence in Egypt and the Arab and Muslim world, as it educates its children on pluralism and acceptance of difference, respect for the other, and love of the homeland and affiliation with it.

He stressed the importance of coordination and cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Education to develop the education system and to overcome the problems and challenges it faces, explaining that building the nation can only be achieved by paying attention to education, and educating a citizen capable of advancing his society.

The Minister of Education, for his part, briefed His Eminence the Grand Imam on the results of cooperation in the development of education systems and curricula, indicating that Al-Azhar has long experience in the field of education, and has qualified staff to deal with the latest educational means and methods.
