We look forward to increasing cooperation with Al-Azhar and benefiting from its moderate methods, says Australian Ambassador to Grand Imam
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Glenn Miles, the new Australian Ambassador to Egypt.
The Grand Imam congratulated the Australian Ambassador on starting his diplomatic mission, expressing his sincere wishes for a successful term of office in Egypt. His Eminence explained that Al-Azhar’s curricula are based on fostering the values of peace, coexistence, and equality among all citizens in rights and duties, regardless of their beliefs and religions. This is what makes the countries of the world eager to send their students to join this prestigious institution. After graduation, they become pillars of peace and societal stability in their countries.
The Grand Imam indicated Al-Azhar's keenness to promote cooperation with the Australian government in all cultural, scientific and religious fields, and to train imams and Islamic preachers.
The Australian Ambassador expressed his appreciation of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and the efforts of its Grand Imam to promote moderation of Islam, stressing his country’s aspiration to increase cooperation with Al-Azhar in the field of preaching, training imams and disseminating its method to bring up Muslim children in Australia according to the moderate approach of Islam.
