Al-Azhar curricula promote correct Islamic culture in our country, Singaporean Minister of Islamic Affairs to the Grand Imam
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received the Singaporean Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs, Masagos Zulkifli, and his accompanying delegation, during their visit to Cairo.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Eminence welcomed the Singaporean Minister at Al-Azhar headquarters, stressing the depth of the relations that bind Al-Azhar with religious institutions in Singapore, and Al-Azhar’s keenness to support them in all educational and missionary aspects.
His Eminence showed that Al-Azhar is keen to enhance cooperation, especially in the field of training imams in dealing with contemporary issues and problems, such as extremism and terrorism.
Mr. Zulkifli, for his part, expressed his country's pride in the close relations it has with Egypt and Al-Azhar, explaining that Al-Azhar's curricula have a major role in disseminating the correct Islamic culture and immunizing the Singaporean society against the problems of extremism and terrorism. Al-Azhar Singaporean graduates and their colleagues who continue their studies at Al-Azhar embody this noble mission.
