Al-Azhar counts on you to be Ambassadors for the Arabic language in your societies, Grand Imam to a delegation of foreign teachers of Arabic
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received a delegation of Arabic teachers from eleven non-Arab countries.
His Eminence said he was pleased to receive this distinguished elite of Arabic language masters who come from foreign countries. He pointed out that it is important for them to be closely involved in the Arab and Egyptian culture in a way that helps them gain a deep understanding of the Arabic language, for culture is not separate from language but rather it forms the language’s intellectual and civilized depth.
He added that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif has been performing its mission in spreading and teaching the Arabic language for nearly a thousand years since this language is the main basis for understanding Islam. He addressed the members of the delegation saying, "Al-Azhar is counting on you, to be Ambassadors for the Arabic language in your societies, and to clarify the correct image of Islam and true Muslims."
At the end of the meeting, His Eminence the Grand Imam answered a number of questions from the delegation members, who expressed their appreciation for the role of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif in spreading the sciences of the Arabic language and culture, which helps understand the teachings of Islam correctly. They praised the efforts of the Grand Imam in establishing the values of peace and coexistence among the followers of different religions and cultures.
After the meeting, the delegation visited Al-Azhar Global Fatwa Center to learn about its efforts in confronting extremist ideas and odd fatwas, correcting misconceptions, and refuting ideas and fallacies promoted by extremist groups.
