With his passing, Arabic literature has lost one of its most important icons, the Grand Imam to Bin Sharifa’s widow
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Ismat Abdel Latif, the widow of Dr. Muhammed Bin Sharifa, the Moroccan scholar, one of the most prominent specialists in Arabic literature and heritage, who passed away at the age of 88 last November.
His Eminence expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to the wife of Dr. Bin Sharifa and his honorable family, explaining that Arabic literature lost one of its most important icons with his passing. Bin Sharifa had an important role in authoring and in editing books of the Islamic heritage, especially the Andalusian Islamic heritage.
The widow of Dr. Bin Sharifa expressed her deep gratitude to the Grand Imam. She also presented His Eminence with a copy of the latest books of Dr. Muhammad Bin Sharifa.
