Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population to discuss cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Ministry in the field of health care.

His Eminence said that Al-Azhar - out of its social responsibility towards all Egyptians - cares for the sick, especially the poor of them, so it directs the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House, and the health sector in Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif to increase medical convoys that provide free treatment and medicine to the poor throughout Egypt.

Dr. Hala Zayed, for her part, thanked the Grand Imam for supporting the poor and fighting against disease, indicating that the support of Al-Azhar and the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House for the health sector contributed to reducing the waiting lists and saving the lives of thousands of cases that could not have been treated at their personal expense. She expressed her aspiration for continued cooperation between Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and the Ministry of Health.
