Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Mr. Volker Kauder, member of the German parliament (the Bundestag).

The Grand Imam affirmed that religions are innocent of terrorism and murder crimes committed in their names, adding that some political agendas ignite conflicts and wars in the region with the aim of dominating the region's decision and capabilities. He expressed his appreciation for Kauder's interest in issues of peace and community coexistence.

Kauder, for his part, said that Egypt is a model for religious and human coexistence, stressing that Germany is keen to benefit from the views of the Grand Imam on regional and global issues, as he is the greatest Islamic symbol, playing a great role in promoting the culture of dialogue and acceptance of the other.
