Al-Azhar keen that its students open to different languages and cultures, the Grand Imam to British Ambassador
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Geoffrey Adams, the British Ambassador to Egypt.
At the beginning of the meeting, the British Ambassador congratulated the Grand Imam, and all Muslims, on the blessed month of Ramadan. Geoffrey explained that the British government is keen to increase cooperation with Al-Azhar in various cultural, religious and scientific fields, expressing his country's aspiration to benefit from the expertise of Al-Azhar as the most trusted Islamic reference within the British society.
The Grand Imam, for his part, said that Al-Azhar is keen that its students open to learning languages, and to give them the opportunity to interact with different cultures and civilizations to convey Al-Azhar’s message to the whole world. He pointed out that Al-Azhar welcomes cooperation with British cultural and educational institutions, and opens its doors to all races and cultures.
His Eminence said Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif is ready to receive Muslim imams from Britain to train them in confronting extremist and terrorist ideas, and in promoting a culture of peace and coexistence in their society.
