African universities have responsibility to place continent among ranks of the developed world, the Grand Imam to AAU delegation
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received the delegation of the Association of African Universities (AAU).
The Grand Imam expressed Al-Azhar’s full support for the AAU as part of its efforts for the sake of the peoples of Africa, stressing that the African universities have the responsibility to advance the African continent and to place it among the ranks of the developed world, because science is the basis of any real renaissance.
Members of the delegation of the AAU thanked the Grand Imam for his generous sponsorship and support for the AAU, stressing that Al-Azhar plays a pivotal role in disseminating the values of coexistence and peace and confronting extremism and terrorism in Africa. Thus, Al-Azhar helps the countries and peoples of the continent enjoy stability. This is the role that Al-Azhar plays through its educational missions and through receiving thousands of African students to study in its various educational stages.
