His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Mr. Amr Moussa, former Secretary General of the Arab League. The Grand Imam welcomed Mr. Amr Moussa to the Headquarters of Al-Azhar and stressed that he would remain a prominent figure in Egyptian, Arab and international diplomacy thanks to his exemplary national stances and political acumen that should be imitated by all diplomats in Egypt and the region. Grand Imam At-Tayyeb applauded the significant nationalist role played by Mr. Mousa during his presidency of the Constitution Committee.

For his part, Mr. Moussa expressed his appreciation of the role of Al-Azhar in promoting the culture of dialogue and tolerance and in confronting terrorist thought. He also expressed appreciation for the great efforts made by the Grand Imam in disseminating community peace and promoting Muslim unity, praising the great Grand Imam’s keenness to present the true image of Islam through his external tours to Asia, Europe, and Africa.
