Muslims in the West should care about human issues and values in their societies, the Grand Imam to students of American universities
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received a group of students majored in Islamic studies at American universities.
The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar, the oldest educational institution in the world, has been performing its role for more than a thousand years, a role that is not limited to the educational process, but carries social and human dimensions as a part of the message of Al-Azhar for which it was founded. He indicated that Al-Azhar makes great efforts through cooperation with major religious institutions in the world, especially the Vatican, to establish peace and to combat the use of religion to ignite conflicts.
His Eminence had an open dialogue with the students, during which he answered their questions and inquiries on many religious and global issues. He called on the Muslims in the West to be a model of religious tolerance, through coexistence, positive integration into their societies, and care for human issues and values.
