Egypt an example of state of citizenship and beacon of social coexistence, Grand Imam to delegation of Evangelical community in Egypt
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received the delegation of the Egyptian Evangelical Community (EEC), headed by Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the EEC, who visited the Grand Imam to congratulate him on the occasion of the blessed ˁEid ul-ˀAdha.
The Grand Imam expressed his pleasure that the representatives of the Evangelical community in Egypt congratulated him on the occasion of ˁEid ul-ˀAdha. He added that the feelings of love and cohesion among sects of the Egyptian society embody the values of tolerance and peace that exist in Islam and Christianity, and these are the values that made this Egyptian model of coexistence, and made Egypt an example of the state of citizenship and a beacon of social coexistence.
For their part, members of the EEC delegation explained that communication between the Egyptians on religious occasions and holidays reflects the true spirit of brotherhood that unites them. They stressed that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, with its patriotic stances and tolerant approach, has become an umbrella for all Egyptians of all categories.
