Islamic jurisprudence flexible, and cares for reality of societies, the Grand Imam to students of American universities
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received a group of students majored in Islamic studies at American universities.
His Eminence said that terrorist groups consider whoever commits a sin a heretic, and calls for killing him/her, and therefore most of the victims of terrorism are Muslims. He stressed the need to confront the extremist thought supported by some global policies because it achieves their goals of dominating the region.
His Eminence added that Islamic jurisprudence is flexible and takes into account the reality of societies, calling on the Muslims in Western countries not to isolate themselves from their community surroundings, and to be an active element in those countries, and this does not contradict preserving the principles and fundamentals of the Islamic religion.
In an open dialogue with the Grand Imam, the students raised many inquiries and questions about the issues of terrorism, Islamophobia and the situation of Muslims in the West, and he answered these questions in detail.
