Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Sheikh Salih bin Abdullah al Humaid, Chairman of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, on the sidelines of their participation in the sixth annual meeting of the Islamic Advisory Group on Polio Eradication.

His Eminence said that the great humanitarian efforts of the Islamic Advisory Group to save the children of Africa and Asia from polio is a noble humanitarian act. He also expressed the readiness of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif to provide all aspects of support to the advisory group in order to multiply efforts to eradicate polio.

It is noteworthy that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif hosted the activities of the sixth annual meeting of the Islamic Advisory Group for the Eradication of Polio, at the headquarters of Al-Azhar to discuss progress and challenges in plagued countries in 2019, in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Somalia. This highlighted the efforts of the Advisory Group to confront myths, misconceptions, misinformation and rumors surrounding the polio vaccine and other maternal and child health initiatives.
