HFD laid the foundation for dialogue and acquaintance in the world, Rimini Meeting Director
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received a delegation from the Rimini Meeting for Friendship amongst Peoples in Italy, headed by Emilia Guarneri, Director of the foundation.
His Eminence expressed his appreciation for the role played by the foundation in bringing cultures together, and in consolidating the culture of dialogue and discussion, by listening to different visions and ideas from different regions around the world. He added that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif supports all sincere dialogue efforts due to its deep belief that dialogue is the only way to achieve peace.
His Eminence explained that Al-Azhar exerted great efforts to promote peace and build up bridges of communication with religious leaders, especially the Vatican, noting that these continuous efforts resulted in the signing of the Human Fraternity Document (HFD). The HFD has become the subject of global praise, as was evident in the recent speech of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to world leaders in the 47th General Assembly session held in New York.
For his part, the Director of the Rimini Foundation expressed her great fascination with the HFD, which laid the basis for dialogue and acquaintance between the peoples and cultures of the world, adding that the meeting between the Grand Imam and the Pope of the Vatican has drawn a vivid image of religions embracing peace in the world.
