Teachings of Islam call for human brotherhood, and religions not responsible for adherents’ crimes, Grand Imam to German ecclesiastical delegation
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received a delegation of representatives of the German churches headed by Reverend David Jabra.
The Grand Imam said that the teachings of Islam call for brotherhood among the followers of divine religions, stressing Al-Azhar's keenness to communicate and cooperate with religious institutions, and to exchange visions and ideas with various civilizations and cultures in order to achieve security and peace for all humankind.
His Eminence emphasized that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif is ready to cooperate with the German Church to foster the values of coexistence between the Christians and the Muslims in Germany. He stressed the need for each party to view the other’s religion as a religion of peace, and that religions are not responsible for the crimes of their adherents, and that the bloody crimes committed by some of them are no reason to link this religion or that to terrorism.
The members of the German delegation, for their part, thanked the Grand Imam for the warm reception, praising Al-Azhar and its Grand Imam for the efforts to establish the values of world peace and coexistence. They expressed their admiration for the model of the Egyptian Family House, as a positive model for peaceful coexistence and containment of the other.
