Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received members of the Board of Directors of the State Insurance Fund for Al-Azhar students.

The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar pays great attention to providing comprehensive insurance coverage for all Al-Azhar students, at all educational levels, to ensure that they are insured in the event of any accident or accidental death.  He told the members of the Board of Directors of the State Insurance Fund for Al-Azhar students, that it is necessary to establish an administration affiliated to them in all Al-Azhar regions and that its services should cover all students without discrimination.

The members of the Board of Directors of the State Insurance Fund for Al-Azhar Students expressed their great appreciation for the Grand Imam, and thanked him for his interest in Al-Azhar students. They stressed that work is underway to establish all regulations and rules for the new fund, to provide insurance services for all Azhari students in various regions and governorates, in accordance to Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1583/2019 to establish the State Insurance Fund for Student Welfare.

It is worth noting that the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1584/2019, regarding the establishment of the State Insurance Fund for the care of Al-Azhar students, was published in the official gazette on the ninth of July. According to this decision, the fund has an independent legal status, and falls under the supervision of His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. This comes in line with the state moving towards the base of financial inclusion and the provision of insurance and social care services to students of public and Azharite education.

The fund aims to extend insurance protection to all students, and to provide insurance coverage for them in the case of natural or accidental death, physical injuries as well as total or partial disabilities.
