Choosing you for a high international position indicates Egyptian and Arab women’s remarkable ability, the Grand Imam to Dr. Ghada Wali
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Ghada Waly, Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity.
During the meeting, His Eminence the Grand Imam wished Dr. Ghada Waly success in her new mission, after being chosen for the position of Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). He wished that – through her new position - she would be able to help humanity overcome crimes, corruption and terrorism, hoping that she would always support her country in various international forums.
His Eminence stressed that choosing an Egyptian figure to occupy this high international position is an indication of the great international esteem and stature that Egypt enjoys, and the ability of Egyptian and Arab women to occupy the highest international positions.
Dr. Ghada Waly expressed her thanks to the Grand Imam for the great support provided by Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif to the Ministry of Social Solidarity over the past years, which has helped solve the problems of thousands of the needy, sick and homeless, by providing them with adequate housing and thousands of jobs. In addition, it worked in cooperation with the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House, and missionary and religious organizations of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif to solve many social and financial problems that they faced.
