Al-Azhar ready to provide necessary support to develop health system, the Grand Imam to Minister of Health,
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health.
The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar will not hesitate to provide all means of support necessary to upgrade the health system, reduce the burden on patients in all governorates, and improve the skills of young physicians. He demanded that Al-Azhar hospitals and doctors have a share of the development plans of the Ministry of Health in Egypt.
His Eminence praised what he sees as a new way of thinking at the Ministry of Health, stressing that the professional management of the health sector, and other service sectors, is the solution to improving those sectors that affect the lives of most citizens.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health thanked His Eminence for his great support to the Ministry of Health and the initiatives it is undertaking. She stressed that the priority in the next stage is to educate and train physicians at major international universities and to develop fellowship programs in order to graduate highly qualified medical professionals, for the benefit of the health system as a whole.
Dr. Zayed added that the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with Al-Azhar Zakat House, has succeeded in treating more than 350,000 critical cases within a year and a half. This included many major operations such as heart surgeries, liver transplants, and others. She stressed that the ministry follows up on these cases, to ensure their full recovery.
