Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Lord John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, UK, accompanied by Dr. Mouneer Hanna, the Archbishop of the Episcopal Church in Egypt, North Africa and the Horn of Africa.

His Eminence said that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif sought to communicate with all religious institutions in the East and West in order to achieve security and peace for all humankind. He pointed out that Al-Azhar is counting on the major religious leaders in the world to fix the difficult situation resulting from wars and conflicts.

The Archbishop of York, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the Grand Imam’s vision towards finding a moderate path that brings the followers of the divine religions together under the banner of human peace. He stressed that His Eminence was able to break the tension between the followers of religions through the consolidation of close dialogue with the major religious institutions in the world.
