Al-Azhar's moderate approach made it a destination for scholars, says Senegalese Ambassador to Egypt
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received, at the headquarters of Al-Azhar, Ambassador Elie Saiby, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to Egypt.
His Eminence mentioned that Al-Azhar has 330 male and female students from Senegal studying at different educational levels, and that Al-Azhar offers 44 scholarships every year to Senegalese students, and sends 41 Azharite envoys to Senegal. He stressed that Al-Azhar’s support for the African continent and Senegal comes from its belief in the role of science and religion in developing the continent and protecting it from extremist ideas and groups.
The Senegalese Ambassador, for his part, expressed his confidence and pride in the service and care provided by Al-Azhar to the Senegalese students, and that this is always expected from this institution. He stressed that Al-Azhar’s moderate approach has made it a destination for scholars from all over the world.
