Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed visits the Grand Imam at his residence in Abu Dhabi and affirms: We appreciate the role of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in promoting moderation and peace
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, visited His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, at his residence in Abu Dhabi, where the Grand Imam heads the fourth round of East-West Sages’ dialogue. During the visit, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi expressed the appreciation of the UAE, represented in its leadership, government and people, for sisterly Egypt and for the pioneering role played by Al-Azhar and its dear Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, in confronting extremist thought and disseminating moderation and peace in all parts of the world.
For his part, the Grand Imam expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the UAE leadership, government and people for their role in serving Islam and Muslims, and their support for Al-Azhar in carrying out its global mission. The Grand Imam stated that this role is not unusual for HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the son of the primary Arab sage [the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan]. He thus prayed to Allah Almighty to preserve the sisterly UAE and bless it with goodness and prosperity, and to safeguard the Arab and Muslim nation and make real its unity and strength.
It is noteworthy that the Grand Imam presides over the fourth round of dialogue between the sages of the East and the West, which is co-held by the Council of Muslim Elders and the Anglican of Canterbury under the title “Towards an Understanding, Integrated World” In Abu Dhabi (November 2-3).
