His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb received Ambassador Riyadh Al-Akbari, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League. During the meeting, the Grand Imam asserted Al-Azhar’s keenness to promote the unity of Yemeni people. He also indicated that Al-Azhar spares no effort in supporting the Yemeni people. Meanwhile, the Grand Imam maintained Al-Azhar’s readiness to offer more educational and missionary support for Yemen in face of all contemporary challenges. He then renewed his call for all the Yemenis to give precedence to the higher interests of their homelands towards restoring its stability.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Akbari appreciated the efforts exerted by Al-Azhar, under the leadership of the Grand Imam, in disseminating moderate Islamic thought and entrenching the principles of peace and coexistence among the different world peoples and countries. He also stressed that Al-Azhar, through its moderate approach and message, enjoys the trust of all Yemenis, given its pivotal role in renewing religious discourse, purifying the intellectual heritage and confronting extremist ideology. He then praised Al-Azhar’s stances in support of Yemen’s unity and stability.
