We pay great attention to international students at Al-Azhar, the Grand Imam
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received today, Thursday, Ambassador Muhammad Munir Al-Islam, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt. The Grand Imam said Al-Azhar pays great attention to the Muslim expatriates studying at Al-Azhar at its various faculties and institutes, aiming to provide them with religious sciences that instill in them the moderation and tolerance of Islam. HE expressed Al-Azhar's interest in intensifying the scientific exchange between Al-Azhar University and universities in Bangladesh, saying that Al-Azhar spares no effort to remove the obstacles in their way. Al-Azhar is in the process of increasing the number of scholarships allocated to Bangladeshi students to reach 33 grants this year, and it is working to build Azhari institutes in Bangladesh in the coming period, as it did in other Muslim countries. Such institutes function as a nucleus for promoting the moderate Azhari approach in Bangladesh.
The Bangladeshi Ambassador, for his part, said the Bangladeshi people hold the Grand Imam in high esteem, and that the government of Bangladesh always seeks to consolidate scientific cooperation with Al-Azhar as a platform emanating moderate Islam to the whole Muslim world. He also stated his country’s pride in the services provided for the Bangladeshi students studying at Al-Azhar.
