French Senate President, Gérard Larcher sent a cable of thanks to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, expressing his great, appreciation for the role played by Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif under the leadership of the Grand Imam in confronting terrorism and in promoting the values of moderation and peace. In his message, Mr. Larcher noted, “I was very pleased to meet Your Eminence during my visit to Cairo, and with the efforts led by Your Eminence to promote moderation and combat terrorism. These are the values we share, especially under the challenges the world is now going through.” He added, “The delegation and I were impressed upon accompanying Your Eminence in a visit to Al-Azhar Observatory, which is making significant and necessary efforts to confront extremist ideology in different languages, including French.

Mr. Larcher concluded his message addressing the Grand Imam, “Your significant religious and moral impact lends double importance to the efforts played by Al-Azhar Observatory in combating extremist thought.”

French Senate President had visited the Headquarters of Al-Azhar, where he met with the Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb. He also paid an oversight visit of the Al-Azhar Observatory.
