All institutions have a national duty to support health sector, the Grand Imam
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received today, Sunday, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population. The Grand Imam said that the importance of the health sector has emerged during the last period, as it occupied the front lines in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, with the aim of eliminating it and minimizing its effects in addition to organizing awareness campaigns for ways to prevent and curb its spread.
His Eminence pointed out that supporting this sector is a national duty for all institutions, and that Al-Azhar spares no effort to provide all support to this important sector to play its role to the fullest in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and other acute diseases, and to provide advanced medical services to all citizens.
For her part, Dr. Hala Zayed, the Minister of Health, expressed her deep gratitude to the Grand Imam for his permanent and continuous support for the efforts of the Ministry of Health in confronting the coronavirus pandemic, noting that Egypt is seeking to achieve self-sufficiency in producing Corona vaccines now. Meanwhile, the Ministry is working to improve the health system in general and prepare a plan to provide treatment for many other chronic diseases, including spinal muscular atrophy, whose treatment is the most expensive in the world. She expressed her hope that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif will have a role in easing the burden of treatment for the citizens with this disease and giving them support, while putting in place a system that guarantees its continuation.
