Pope Tawadros II congratulates the Grand Imam on the blessed ˁEid ul-Aḍḥa
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, and a number of Al-Azhar scholars received today, Wednesday, at Al-Azhar headquarters His Holiness Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and his accompanying delegation that included a number of the Coptic Orthodox Church leaders who came to congratulate the Grand Imam on the blessed ˁEid ul-Aḍḥa.
His Eminence the Grand Imam welcomed His Holiness the Pope and the delegation accompanying him at Al-Azhar headquarters, expressing his appreciation and the appreciation of Al-Azhar scholars for this kind visit, and the strength and cohesion of the relationship between Al-Azhar and the Church. “This relationship embodies the real brotherhood that unites the partners of the nation and brings together all human beings”. His Eminence also stressed that the harmony between the two institutions represents a unique case of fraternity, cohesion and human and societal interdependence.
For his part, H.H. Pope Tawadros offered his sincere congratulations to the Grand Imam and the masses of Muslims everywhere on the blessed ˁEid ul-Aḍḥa, wishing all Egyptians, Muslims and Christians, goodness and happiness, and that such occasions always bring unity and fraternity among the Egyptian nation’s partners. His Holiness prayed to Allah to preserve our precious Egypt and its brave people, and to perpetuate the blessing of security and stability on our Egypt to achieve renaissance and prosperity.
The Grand Imam and H.H. Pope Tawadros II agreed on cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Church to launch awareness and educational campaigns aimed at raising awareness among all citizens of the country, especially children and youths, and reorienting the educational process to its correct path. “Correct education protects society from ideas that do not fit the religious and moral nature of Egyptian and Eastern society and rejects any abnormal cultures or practices that are not accepted by religion, custom, or the normal human spirit.”
