Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population today, Thursday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, to follow up on the coordination between Al-Azhar and the Ministry in the areas of joint health cooperation. His Eminence the Grand Imam thanked President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his support and efforts in the field of health and education and the medical services provided to Al-Azhar and its affiliates, and that these efforts in the field of health confirm the state’s keenness on the safety and health of the Egyptian citizen.
His Eminence referred to the full coordination between Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Health in several areas, including the vaccination of Al-Azhar employees, university students and Al-Azhar institutes sector across the Republic, with Corona vaccines.
For her part, Dr. Hala Zayed expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the Grand Imam and his continuous support for the health sector and public health initiatives, based on the humanitarian and national role of the prestigious Al-Azhar institution. She also cherished His Eminence’s response to support the state’s efforts to provide treatment for spinal muscular atrophy that affects children above the age of two to ease the hardship and burden on their families, especially after their children had shown progress. This proves the Grand Imam’s support of the President’s initiative to treat patients with muscular dystrophy for children under two years old. Dr. Zayed added that the Egyptian state is achieving record numbers in the treatment of this disease, and thanks to the initiative, 23 cases under the age of two have been treated with the necessary injections, while other cases are being prepared for treatment. Caring for the citizens and out of support for them, the ministry is moving at a good pace in various fields of health.
The Minister of Health confirmed the continuation of coordination with Al-Azhar to vaccinate all its employees and all those affiliated with Al-Azhar University, including Egyptian as well as foreign students and employees at Al-Azhar institutes sector and its departments spread throughout Egypt in addition to the possibility of vaccinating secondary school students.
Since the Ministry is keen to complete the vaccinations before the start of the academic year, those who are working in the field of education can register via the website in the “Education” section, and they will receive a message within 72 hours to get the vaccine at the nearest vaccination point to their homes.
The Minister pointed out that vaccination certificates bearing a QRCode are available free of charge to all students and employees of Al-Azhar. This contributes to facilitating vaccination and the regularity of the educational process. Coordination between Al-Azhar and the Ministry takes place to provide the necessary health care for international students at Al-Azhar and to admit international students to the Ministry of Health hospitals free of charge in emergency cases, and they are treated as Egyptians in normal cases.
