Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Ambassador Mohamed Omar Gad, the new Egyptian Ambassador to Ethiopia, today, Sunday, at Al-Azhar headquarters. The Grand Imam said Al-Azhar has made great efforts for the sake of Africa, and it spares no effort to serve the peoples of the continent. It receives students and imams to train them in addressing emerging issues in accordance with the true religion, refuting misconceptions, and combating extremism. The Grand Imam wished the new Ambassador every success in his new mission.

For his part, Ambassador Gad expressed his appreciation for the Grand Imam and his global efforts to promote the discourse of moderation and tolerance around the world, stressing that Al-Azhar’s efforts at the global level - especially in Africa - make this ancient institution a destination for students of knowledge and imams to benefit from Al-Azhar scholars’ knowledge, experience and effort.
