Al-Azhar Grand Imam calls for a deliberate development of education in the Arab world
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, called for working seriously on developing education in the Arab world in order to keep pace with the successive challenges and developments according to calculated and studied plans. These plans should consider the material and human capabilities and the nature of Arab societies so that development may become desirable and effective, and not lead to problems that take years to solve.
During his meeting with Ambassador Amjad Al-Adayleh, Jordan's Ambassador in Cairo today, Monday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, Al-Azhar Grand Imam stressed that Al-Azhar welcomes the Embassy's request to increase the number of scholarships, and to distribute scholarships according to the specializations that Jordan needs from Al-Azhar. He added that Al-Azhar is keen to develop scientific, religious and cultural relations with various Arab and Muslim countries to supply them with the moderate approach of Al-Azhar.
For his part, the Ambassador of Jordan expressed his appreciation for the response of the Grand Imam regarding scholarships for students of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He added that the Jordanian Embassy is keen to strengthen scientific and cultural cooperation with the Al-Azhar, which represents the school of Islam, enlightenment and moderation in the world, and that the efficiency of Al-Azhar graduates makes this institution a destination for all students of religious and applied sciences.
