Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Egyptian Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea discuss establishment of a center for teaching Arabic
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received today Ambassador Haddad El-Gohary, the new Egyptian Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, today, Tuesday, at Al-Azhar headquarters. The Grand Imam stressed that the Training Program for International Imams at Al-Azhar Academy is yielding good results in raising the efficiency of imams and training them to deal with emerging issues and combat extremist ideas, and that in light of the procedures and conditions imposed by the “Corona” epidemic, Al-Azhar continued these courses online. His Eminence pointed out that Al-Azhar is intensifying its efforts to teach Islamic fields of knowledge and Arabic language, and to receive students from more than one hundred countries around the world.
Ambassador Haddad El-Gohary stressed the importance of this meeting with the Grand Imam, and the discussions about opportunities to raise the level of educational and advocacy cooperation with Equatorial Guinea and to provide its students and imams with Al-Azhar curricula and experiences in supporting tolerance and enhancing the correct image of Islam.
He stressed his keenness to strengthen educational relations between Al-Azhar and Equatorial Guinea.
Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Ambassador El-Gohary also discussed the idea of establishing a center for teaching Arabic in order to qualify Equatorial Guinean students and imams to study at Al-Azhar and provide them with scientific and religious qualifications.
