Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, pointed out that Al-Azhar has strong relationships with Germany, as Germany was one of the first places that His Eminence was keen on visiting during his foreign tours. HE pointed out his appreciation for the German role in supporting global and humanitarian causes, foremost of which is the reception of refugees, an honourable and noble attitude that bears witness to the sophistication and generosity of this country. During his meeting with Mr. Frank Hartmann, the German Ambassador to Cairo, the Grand Imam added that Al-Azhar is fully prepared to train German imams within the Training Program of Imams and Preachers at the Al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers (AIATIP) to provide them with the necessary tools and skills to refute extremist ideas, and boost the values of positive integration and coexistence between the Muslims and other followers of different religions. 

On his part, the German Ambassador expressed his pleasure to meet the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and his appreciation for the global role he plays in boosting the values of universal peace and human fraternity, stressing Germany's commitment to support interreligious dialogue and move forward towards consolidating the values of universal peace and coexistence among all people.
