Al-Azhar is keen to keep pace with modern technology especially in the field of education—Grand Imam
Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, received Dr. Johansen Eid, Chairman of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, in the presence of Prof. Muhammad Al-Dowini, Grand Imam’s Deputy, and Dr. Rajia Mahmoud Taha, Vice President of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, to discuss ways to activate the quality assurance systems of education at Al-Azhar.
The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar is keen to keep pace with modern technology, especially in the field of education, to graduate students capable of facing the present challenges. He also pointed out that Al-Azhar is doing its best to develop the educational system at Al-Azhar University and its educational institutes, and to meet the conditions required by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education.
On her part, Dr. Johansen Eid, President of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, stressed that Al-Azhar education has witnessed a remarkable development and unprecedented boom over the past 7 years, where 788 Azhari institutes have been accredited, 24 faculties including 14 faculties of Islamic theology and 10 other practical faculties, placing Al-Azhar University at the forefront of the Egyptian universities due to the number of accredited colleges, beside the accreditation of 8 academic programs as well.
The President of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education also briefed the Grand Imam on Egypt's Vision in 2030 for the development of education, pointing out that Al-Azhar institutes are an integral part of the Egyptian education system, as they represent 17% of the total institutions of pre-university education where a third of the students of the Arab Republic of Egypt study. She also pointed out that the percentage of accreditation of Al-Azhar institutes seeking accreditation was 100%, which confirms Al-Azhar’s readiness and seriousness of the steps taken to develop its educational system, noting that the target this year is the accreditation of 750 Azhari institutes.
