His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb received Dr. Ahmed Attia, the Yemeni Minister of Endowments and Guidance, during his visit to Cairo. His Eminence the Grand Imam affirmed that Al-Azhar is ready to provide educational and missionary support to the Yemeni people through increasing the number of scholarships offered to Yemeni students, and training Yemeni imams to qualify them to deal with contemporary issues and challenges. He added that Yemen is a kernel of the Arab nation and “we hope that all Yemeni citizens enjoy security and stability.”

For his part, Dr. Attia expressed his aspiration for a greater role of Al-Azhar in Yemen to disseminate moderate thought and to confront deviant ideologies and currents. He stressed that Al-Azhar represents the major reference and umbrella for all Muslims, and that it is appreciated by all Yemenis.
