The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb met Saudi Monarch, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia, who is currently visiting Egypt. During the meeting, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, in his name and in the name of Al-Azhar, its scholars, students, and staff, welcomed His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz on this historic visit of to Egypt, the seat of Al-Azhar. He also applauded the role of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in serving Arab and Islamic causes and in fostering the unity of the Muslim nation. The meeting involved a discussion of the ways to foster cooperation and concertation of efforts between Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and the KSA in promoting moderate thought, combatting extremism and terrorism, and laying the foundations for peace in the region and the world at large. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques praised the efforts made by Al-Azhar and its Grand Imam in confronting extremist ideologies.
The Saudi King is scheduled to visit Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and meet the Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb on a first-of-its-kind visit by a Saudi monarch to Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, the fortress of moderation in the Muslim world.
