Grand Imam of Al-Azhar receives the Egyptian ambassador to the Holy See and sends a message to Pope Francis
Today, Monday, at the Headquarters of Al-Azhar, HE Prof. Ahmad At-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif received Ambassador Mahmoud Talaat, Egyptian Ambassador to the Holy See. Prof. At-Tayyeb sent a message of love and appreciation to his brother, HH Pope Francis, through Ambassador Talaat, in which he stated: “My dear friend, I hold much love and appreciation for you, and I hope that Allah will keep blessing you with good health and wellness. I recall with utmost pride our joint efforts in serving humanity and I hope to meet you soon so that we may continue the journey of promoting human fraternity in the face of contemporary challenges.”
For his part, Ambassador Talaat expressed his pleasure to meet the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and appreciation for his great efforts in cooperation with HH Pope Francis, which culminated in the cosigning of the historic Human Fraternity Document in February 2019. He added that he is keen to harness the efforts of the Egyptian Embassy to keep promoting and consolidating the relations between Al-Azhar and the Vatican.
