The Grand Imam to the Pakistani Minister of Religious: We are proud of Al-Azhar’s historical relationship with Pakistan
Pakistani Minister of Religious Affairs: Al-Azhar’s positions in supporting the Palestinian cause and other Muslim causes around the world are a source of pride and honor.
The Grand Imam: Al-Azhar is proud of its historical relations with Pakistan and seeks to consolidate this relationship by enrolling Pakistani students in the various educational levels at Al-Azhar, as well as strengthening cooperation in the Da’wah fields through enrolling Pakistani imams in the Al-Azhar Academy for the Training of Imams and Preachers. He added that a special curriculum is designed for Pakistani imams to befit the nature of Pakistani society, taking into account internal Pakistani challenges. He indicated that the curriculum delivered in these training courses is developed by a group of senior Al-Azhar scholars and professors.
Receiving Mr. Aneeq Ahmed, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Pakistan and his accompanying delegation, the Grand Imam pointed out that Al-Azhar always gives priority to supporting the causes of the Arab and Muslim nation, especially the Palestinian cause. He expressed regret for what the Gaza Strip is witnessing of brutality and unprecedented violations of Palestinian human rights. This is committed, he added, amidst disgraceful and suspicious global silence.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed expressed pleasure to meet the Grand Imam and appreciation for the latter’s great efforts in serving the causes of the Arab and Muslim nations. He underscored his appreciation for Al-Azhar’s position in supporting our brotherly people in Gaza since the outbreak of the Zionist aggression and advocating the Palestinian cause throughout its history. He added that the positions of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif in championing the Palestinian cause and other Muslim causes around the world constitute a source of pride and honor.
