The Grand Imam strongly supports youth issues and the nation’s causes, Minister of Youth and Sports 

Your supportive stances towards the Palestinian people warm the hearts of Muslims around the world, Head of Palestinian Higher Council for Youth and Sport to the Grand Imam

His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, received today, Wednesday, at Al-Azhar, a delegation from the International Union of Muslim Scouts (IUMS) participating in the 43rd World Scout Conference held in Egypt. Both Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and General Jibril Rajoub, Head of the Palestinian Higher Council for Youth and Sports, are present in this conference, which is attended by representatives from 174 countries.

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar stressed the importance of the role of the scouting movement in spreading the values of tolerance, peace and coexistence, stating: “You, young people, have a duty to bring cultures together and spread peace among people, and to participate in identifying their pains and problems. The people of Gaza are suffering a crisis of injustice and assault on humanity, a crisis of the destruction of all human and moral values,  amidst shameful global silence. Your voice must be harnessed to identify the dangers of the brutal aggression and daily massacres committed by the occupier there, especially since the youth constitute an influential front and are capable of expressing themselves.”

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the Grand Imam for hosting this meeting at Al-Azhar, especially since His Eminence is a strong supporter of the issues of the youth and the causes of the nation in various fields.

The head of the Palestinian Higher Council for Youth and Sports expressed his happiness for meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, saying , “Your Eminence have a special place in the hearts of the Palestinians; Your Eminence represent moderate Islam; your voice is heard, and your support for the Palestinian people is influential and warms the hearts of all Muslims around the world. I am here to convey to you the feelings of the Palestinians. You represent us and your position and the position of Al-Azhar in support of Palestine honor us, and your words represent the voice of everyone who has values and morals.”

Honored by meeting with His Eminence the Grand Imam, the representatives of the IUMS expressed their great happiness at this important event, stressing that this meeting is a message of support for them. They also stressed that they highly appreciate the Grand Imam’s efforts to spread the values of tolerance, moderation, coexistence and justice, to ensure coexistence between all cultures. The youth also thanked Egypt for organizing the largest scouting movement in the world, and congratulated Egypt on holding the World Scout Conference.
