The Mufti of Rwanda, during his meeting with the Grand Imam: Al-Azhar education demolishes deviant ideological foundations adopted by the terrorists
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Sheikh Salim Hitimana, the Mufti of Rwanda, accompanied by Mr. Saleh Habimana, the Rwandan Ambassador in Cairo. The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar is keen to support all countries of the African continent in academic and missionary fields, to help them better address the problems they face, foremost of which is terrorism and extremism. According to the Grand Imam, these problems are destabilizing Africa and the world. He added that Al-Azhar is ready to increase the number of scholarships offered to Rwandan students to study at Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, and to receive Rwandan imams in a qualification program to train them to address issues and problems facing the Muslim societies in Africa.
For his part, Sheikh Hitimana expressed the Rwandan people’s and President’s appreciation for the Grand Imam and their aspiration for closer relations with Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and that Al-Azhar supervise religious education in Rwanda. He stressed that his country believes that Al-Azhar education is the only solution that saves Rwanda and all Africa from the specter of terrorism and extremism, given that such education demolishes the deviant ideological foundations adopted by the terrorists.
