The Grand Imam receives Head of the Supreme Constitutional Court
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Chancellor Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek, Head of the Egyptian Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC). The Grand Imam welcomed Chancellor Abdel Wahab to Al-Azhar Headquarters, asserting that the SCC and its judges play a very critical role in protecting the constitution of Egypt, guaranteeing the freedoms and rights stipulated in the constitution, and ensuring the integrity and constitutionality of legislation and laws. He also indicated that the SCC represents the top judicial authority in the country and is a fortress of security for the homeland and a source of reassurance for the citizens. He then pointed out that Al-Azhar, in all its bodies, appreciates the role of the Egyptian constitutional judiciary, which has enriched the legal and constitutional library in Egypt and the Arab world through its exemplary rulings.
For his part, Chancellor Abdel Razek expressed his appreciation for the important and global role played by Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and its Grand Imam in mainstreaming moderation and countering the calls for extremism and hatred. He affirmed his pride in the Grand Imam’s efforts and his role in promoting the values of peace, dialogue and coexistence, and in consolidating and promoting the tolerance of Islam.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Grand Imam presented to Chancellor Abdel Razek Al-Azhar Shield in appreciation for him and all other SCC members.
