His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb received Rev. Andrea Zaki, Head of the Evangelical community, and his accompanying delegation, who came to greet him on the approaching ˁEid ul-ˀAḍḥa. The Grand Imam expressed his sincere appreciation to Pastor Andre Zaki and the accompanying delegation, adding that the Egyptians’ sense of sharing in Islamic and Christian holidays reflects the state of coexistence and social peace in Egypt. He noted that Al-Azhar is making intensive efforts to promote the concepts of peace and dialogue, as embodied in the experience of the Emerging Peace Makers Forum, jointly organized in London by Al-Azhar and the Archdiocese of Canterbury.
For their part, the delegation of the Evangelical community extended their sincere greetings to the Grand Imam on the approaching ˁEid ul-ˀAḍḥa, wishing him good health and wellbeing and continued peace, security and prosperity for Egypt. They maintained that the Grand Imam is a national symbol for all Egyptians and not exclusively for the Muslims.
