Al-Azhar Grand Imam: We are in deep sorrow over Gaza tragedy.

We beseech Allah to end soon the historical tragedy of Gaza.

Al-Habbash: The Palestinian people see in Your Eminence and in Al-Azhar a steadfast supporter of their rights.

Palestinian Endowment Minister: We pray that Al-Azhar remains a voice for Palestineand and the Islamic nation’s causes.

His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb received today, Tuesday, at Al-Azhar, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Chief Justice of Palestine and Advisor to the Palestinian President for Religious Affairs, and Dr. Mohammed Najm, Palestinian Minister of Endowments (Awqaf).

The Grand Imam affirmed Al-Azhar's firm and historic position on the Palestinian cause, and its support for the oppressed Palestinian people's struggle to regain their full rights and establish their independent state with al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital. His Eminence stated, “We are deeply saddened by the situation in Gaza, and we are following with deep sorrow the increasing number of martyrs daily and the state of destruction that has surpassed the limits of imagination, reaching the point of destroying entire cities. We pray to Allah to swiftly end this historic tragedy, the like of which we have never seen before, and to empower the Palestinian people to regain their rights, their land, and their resources.” 

The Chief Justice of Palestine and his accompanying delegation expressed their happiness at meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and their appreciation for his historic positions in support of the Palestinian people's struggle. He stated, “The Palestinian people see in you and Al-Azhar a supportive and unequivocal advocate for their rights. Al-Azhar's voice in this historic conflict cannot be underestimated. Everyone recognizes the importance of the voice of Al-Azhar and its Grand Imam globally, regionally, and even in the Western world. Every word or term uttered by you is studied and analyzed by major research centers in the East and West, which underscores the importance of your positions and statements in support of the Palestinian cause.” 

The Palestinian Minister of Endowments said, “It is an honor for us to visit Your Eminence at this prestigious institution, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, which represents the moderation, tolerance, and leniency of this religion. We are pleased to follow your positions and your continued support for the Palestinian people. Al-Azhar speaks the truth, and we pray to Allah to keep it a voice supporting the Palestinian people and the causes of the Islamic nation.”
