His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb, has decided to suspend the annual phone calls he makes to congratulate the top Al-Azhar secondary school graduates and cancel the press conference designated for announcing this year's results. He will instead simply approve, announce, and publish the results. This decision comes in solidarity with our people in the Gaza Strip, as they endure a gripping famine and ongoing aggression unprecedented in modern history.

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif affirms that this decision stems from the deep sorrow that has enveloped Al-Azhar, the Islamic and the Arab world over the systematic genocide crimes being perpetrated against the Palestinian people. Al-Azhar stresses that the moral and humanitarian duty requires raising the voice of solidarity and consolation over expressions of joy and celebration.

In this context, Al-Azhar also reiterates its full support for the steadfast Palestinian people, affirming that the Palestinian cause will remain at the forefront of its priorities and efforts. Al-Azhar calls for unity and action to end this aggression, end the deadly famine and humanitarian tragedy, enable the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights to freedom, life, and dignity, and to reclaim their land and resources.
