Al-Aazhar Grand Imam mourns the esteemed scholar, Professor Ahmed Omar Hashem, member of the Council of Senior Scholars
Accepting Allah’s will, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb, mourns to the Islamic nation the passing of the esteemed scholar, Professor Ahmed Omar Hashem, member of the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar, Professor of Hadith and its Sciences at the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion, and former President of Al-Azhar University, who passed away this morning, after a rich journey spent in spreading knowledge and calling to Allah Almighty.
The Grand Imam affirms that the deceased, a loss to the nation, was a true Azharite scholar and one of the most prominent scholars of Hadith in our time. Allah blessed him with eloquent expression, fluency of speech, sincerity in calling to Allah, serving the Sunnah of His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. His sermons, books, and lectures will remain an inspiring source of knowledge for students and researchers.
His Eminence extended his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased scholar, his colleagues, students, and admirers, asking Allah Almighty to grant the deceased His abundant mercy and pleasure, to place him in His spacious Paradise, to make his efforts in spreading knowledge an intercessor for him, and to grant his family and loved ones patience and solace. “Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
