Al-Azhar Grand Imam confirms readiness to establish an Arabic language center in Poland
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, received today, Wednesday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, Sheikh Tomasz Miśkiewicz, Mufti of Poland and Chairman of the Muslim Religious Union, to discuss ways in which Al-Azhar can support the Muslims of Poland in academic and dawah fields.
The Grand Imam affirmed Al-Azhar’s readiness to present scholarships for Polish Muslims to study at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and to establish a center for teaching the Arabic language in Poland to serve the Muslim community in learning the language of the Holy Quran. In addition, Al-Azhar will increase its envoys to Poland and train Polish imams at Al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers. The Academy’s curricula aim to refine the imams’ skills in dealing with issues of coexistence, acceptance of others, Islam’s position on women, and other contemporary issues.
Sheikh Miśkiewicz, for his part, expressed his pleasure at meeting the Grand Imam and his appreciation for His Eminence's significant and tangible efforts in consolidating the values of coexistence and human fraternity. He stated, “The Polish Fatwa Authority is fully committed to Al-Azhar approach in all its opinions and fatwas, and we thank Your Eminence for Al-Azhar scholars who revived the nights of the blessed month of Ramadan in the mosques of Poland, giving these blessed nights a special Azharite flavor.”
