Al-Azhar Grand Imam meets Secretary-General of Oman’s Fatwa Office to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation

His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb received today, Thursday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, His Eminence Sheikh Ahmad bin Saud bin Saeed Al-Siyabi, the Secretary-General of the Office of the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Nasser bin Musalam Al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Egypt, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation.
 
The Grand Imam affirmed the depth of the relations that bind Al-Azhar to the Sultanate of Oman, which have been strengthened and consolidated by the Omani expatriate students. He noted Al-Azhar’s readiness to increase the scholarships allocated to the sons of the Sultanate of Oman to study at Al-Azhar University, and to host Omani imams to be trained at Al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers.
 
His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Al-Siyabi expressed his pleasure at meeting the Grand Imam and his appreciation for His Eminence's significant efforts in disseminating the true teachings of Islam. He stated, “We thank Your Eminence for the scholarships offered to students from Oman to study at Al-Azhar, and we follow your courageous stances in defending the issues of the Muslim world, spreading the true teachings of Islam, and promoting its moderation and tolerance globally.” He affirmed the Sultanate of Oman's commitment to strengthening its academic and outreach ties with Al-Azhar— this venerable Islamic institution.
